SubStation Studio is located in the 1850's train station depot in Housatonic, a hamlet of Great Barrington, MA. Offering lots of vintage gear, custom pre’s and compressors as well as digital audio recording, it is the perfect place to retreat and get to work in an inspiring environment, far away from distractions, yet conveniently located in one of the most beautiful areas of the world: The Berkshire Mountains of Western Massachusetts. SubStation Studio offers a kitchen and sleeping arrangements for 4-5 people, making it the perfect place for bands from New York, Brooklyn or Boston to come out and record for days or weeks on end. Owned and operated by Robby Baier and supported by Jackson Whalan, SubStation Studio hosts bands and singer/songwriters as well as music productions for film and TV since 1999. Rates: $70/hour, $500/day, $1,200/3 days. Further discounts are offered for longer projects.

Upstairs: Foyer, Lounge with Kitchen, Bedroom with twin bunk beds, Office with Printer and WIFI, Painting/Art Studio Loft with Queensize bed, Bathroom with Shower, Washer/Dryer.
Outside: Porch with river and mountain views, deck with large table, shade sail and fire pit.
Train Station Building Rental:
Occasionally, the entire building is for rent for special events or for people who wish to live there for a time to experience living in a train station filled with instruments and art supplies... Inquire about rental fees.
