SubStation Studio Control Room
SubStation Studio is a professional recording facility, located in the 1850 Housatonic Railroad Station in Housatonic, MA.
We handle all aspects of recording, but specialize in the producing of Singer/Songwriter and Pop/Rock projects as well as the creation of custom songs for film. Robby Baier's extensive combined experience as a professional major label recording artist, award winning songwriter, seasoned recording engineer, producer and multi-instrumentalist bring a high level of professionalism and talent to your project. Whether you are a band ready to record your tracks, a singer songwriter who needs help creating a full band sound or a major label artist who is looking for a chilled out, moody atmosphere with lots of vintage gear and top of the line audio gear, Robby Baier and Substation Studio are ready to roll with you.
As an example, here is how things went down with our friend and client Graham Isaacson: Graham spent 3 days with Robby working on 10 of his songs. Robby took Graham's rough song ideas and helped him complete the lyrics and the music. After a month of rehearsals and gigs Graham felt really comfortable with the new arrangements and was ready to record. Robby put a band together of local musicians that fit the project and in 9 days they recorded the entire album. The finished product included Guitar, Cello, Pedal Steel, Upright Bass, Drums, Fender Rhodes Piano, Vocals and Back-up Vocals. Robby played the Fender Rhodes and guided the other musicians, worked out the back up vocals, coached Graham with his singing and delivery while engineering and producing the project. Graham then took the finished CD back to Maine and won best new singer songwriter of Portland with the tunes. Public Radio has started playing the songs from the record and in early 2006 Robby and Graham won second place in the 2005 International Songwriting Competition with their song "What's The Point". Graham has met with both Columbia and Virgin Records and might just be crazy enough to sign his life away to one of the majors. Good luck brother!
Robby loves working with all levels of talent and is excited to hear your songs and ideas. Bring 'em on...
